Fraser Island is the world's largest sand island. It is located off the coast from Hervey Bay. Accommodation includes Kingfisher Bay Resort and Eurong Beach Resort. Many people like to ferry their 4WD to the island and drive along the very long beaches. It also has many freshwater lakes (McKenzie being the most popular) surrounded by rainforest. There are bushwalking tracks everywhere and you can also ride in a 4WD bus tour. One highlight is the beautiful freshwater Eli Creek that is big enough to swim, raft or walk through.
